Courtney Hsu, MD

Courtney graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with high honors and a senior honors thesis studying novel type III secretion effector proteins and the role of known effectors in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. She earned her M.D. at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine where she worked with Dr. Vahia studying the use of tablet computers in reducing neuropsychiatric symptoms in patients with dementia in the geriatric psychiatry inpatient setting. 
 
In medical school she was an American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry General Scholar and was awarded the Medical Student Training in Aging Research grant as well as the HRSA Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program grant. She has a strong interest in elder mental health and hopes to practice in geriatric psychiatry.
